Depression

Youth, young adults, the elderly...all are subject to periodic feelings of rejection,
worthlessness, loss of interest in activities normally found to be enjoyable.  These
feelings may last from a few hours to several days or weeks.

Depression can be linked to past memories of failure, constant anxiety, or the inability
to reach unrealistic goals.

In cases of prolonged bouts of depression, you should always contact your primary
physician to rule out chemical imbalances or disease.

When you are dealing with low self-esteem, past memories, unresolved grief and/or
guilt issues, hypnotherapy is a very effective tool in alleviating the symptoms and
restoring balance and peace in your life.

If you have lost interest in life, if you are struggling to deal with everyday situations
that used to be simple, if you just don't care anymore, chances are, you are dealing with
depression.  Check with your physician.

Depression in Older Adults

As we age, we experience many physical and mental changes.  Many of these changes
are just part of normal aging, but sometimes they may be an indicator of a more serious
condition.  One thing that people with memory problems often fear is that they have
Alzheimer's disease---one form of dementia.  However, there are many health
conditions that mimic the symptoms of Alzheimer's but are treatable.  One of those is
depression.

Depression is a common problem among older adults and affects as many as one in five
older people.  The symptoms of depression are remarkably similar to those of
dementia.

Consider the following:

Depression can have many different triggers such as loss, significant life changes,
and side effects of medications.  Your physician should address all possible underlying
causes of depression.

If you think that you are suffering from depression, don't be afraid.  Many people
experience the symptoms of depression but are unaware that they have a treatable
condition.

Hypnotherapy can help by eliminating or bringing under control, the underlying
emotions that are filling your mind.  By recognizing and giving value to your thoughts
and feelings, you and your hypnotherapist can bring your mind, body and spirit back
into balance...leaving you with positive thoughts, anticipation for the future, feeling
'normal' ... once again leading a full, vibrant life.
